Fabulous Beasts - For grades 6-8
How do animals see the world?
We will no longer paint a forest or a beaver as we like them, or as they seem to us, but as they really are, as the forest and the beaver feel themselves to be. We will paint the forest first through the eyes of the beaver.
Later we will bring the beaver in, as if he walked into a world of his own creation. We will slow down for a week and really get to know the beaver, inside and out. We will try to become beavers. We will do so with a variety of mixed media: charcoal, watercolor, and wax crayons on paper, even throwing in some dirt and leaves glued into our paintings. A marvelous mix!
