Ellen Mahoney

Maren Tomblin

A Pacific Northwest native, Ellen holds a BA in French from the University of Oregon and an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College in Boston. She taught middle school English in France and undergraduate-level French in Boston before finding her niche in administration and operations at Cambridge Innovation Center, one of the largest business incubators in the world.

Ellen’s family returned to Washington after the birth of their daughter. She discovered Waldorf education after seeing a Waldorf doll on a parenting blog. She joined the Parent-Tot class at Olympia Waldorf School and worked as a dollmaker before joining the staff at Olympia Waldorf School. There she united her passion for education and administration (and wool) through her service as Enrollment Manager, Outreach Manager, and Community Director, working extensively with the Board, Parent Association, and various committees over the years. Ellen has most recently spent a sabbatical year rebuilding the administrative infrastructure of a friend’s growing construction company and running a small floral design business. She, her husband Matt, and children Jane and Frederick are thrilled to join Eugene Waldorf’s vibrant school community this fall.
