“One Human Family” by the Dalai Lama

Recently the Dalai Lama shared this article with the media, Why I’m Hopeful About the World’s Future. He says, “There are solutions to many of the problems we face, new mechanisms for dialogue need to be created, along with systems of education to inculcate moral values.” He defines the need for secular ethics, which he defines as “an approach to educating ourselves based on scientific findings, common experience and common sense—a more universal approach to the promotion of our shared human values.” These reflections, and others, support the Waldorf school movement’s work to raise children in a developmentally appropriate way that will result in adults who have a strong moral sense and capacities for healthy independent thought. Truly, we need the coming generations to be able work together to find new solutions for our times.
